Eclipse Soundscapes: Partnering with the public to illuminate the effect of eclipses on wildlife

Eclipse Soundscapes: Partnering with the public to illuminate the effect of eclipses on wildlife In-Person

The Eclipse Soundscapes Project is a NASA-funded participatory science project that engaged the public in studying eclipse-related science alongside multi-disciplinary scientists. With a focus on how eclipses affect wildlife on Earth, we addressed this question by measuring changes in biotic soundscapes during the 2023 annular and 2024 total eclipse paths. In this talk, Brent Pease will discuss how darkness during the day affected wildlife and highlight the power of the public in large-scale research.
